The devastation of Baal

The devastation of Baal was an epic read, it took me two weeks to get through this book. The Hive Fleet Leviathan of the tyranid’s has its sights set on Baal and its moons Baal secundas and Baal Prime the home world of the blood angels. This novel was a roller coaster ride of heroic acts, struggles with the afflictions of the black rage and the red thirst. Commander Dante the chapter master of the blood angels brings all successor chapters back to Baal to defend their home world and keep intact their father sanguinius legacy. How deep this books goes into the blood angels culture and the interactions with the larger then life characters (commander Dante, chapter master of the flesh Tearers Gabriel Seth, chief Liberian Mephiston, and so many more). This story truly shows the struggles with not only command and control but also self control and a test of their faith. Spoiler alert: the death company charge and the charge of the of damed from the tower Amareo was an insane read. This book has chaos daemons , incredibly destructive tyranid creatures and adrenaline producing chapters of carnage and brutality. If you want to know about this story please read the book you will not regret it. I give this bad boy 4 💀 out of 5💀 ok time for the quote of the book, this was a difficult choice: ”That we let slip the Red Thirst one final time, and fly upon wings of wrath with our lord unto battle? I commend you all, oh ye mighty, to the protection of the Great Angel. For the Emperor, for Sanguinius! There is no more beauty to be had from life, so let us then seek a beautiful death!”
